Leash

This menu will look different depending on who is trying to access it and what state the leash is currently in. For collar wearers the upper row of buttons will be empty. For authorized avatars it will also reveal the “Grab” button which can be used to cast the leash. When grabbed also “Yank” and “Unleash” buttons appear. Leashes are ranked. Higher access ranks can grab leashes cast by lower access ranks. That means someone on the Trust list can snatch the leash away from an avatar with only Public access but not the other way around.

Follow: Scans for nearby avatars that can be followed. This will not cast a leash and cannot be “strict”.

Pass: Scans for nearby avatars to pass them the leash. They will have to confirm a dialog if they want to receive the leash.

Anchor: Scans for nearby objects, like rings or posts, to hitch the leash.

Length: Selects the length of the leash. The maximum length is 20 meters (chat range).

Configure: Opens the configuration menu for looks, feel and behavior of the leash.

Shine ☐/☑: Adds brightness to the leash itself. This can be very useful for screenshot art.

Turn ☐/☑: Will enable automatic turning when the leash is pulled during normal motion of the leash holder, like walking, or when the leash is deliberately yanked. Be advised that automatic turning can cause vertigo if used in combination with Mouselook camera modes.

Strict ☐/☑: Enables the “strict leashing” mode. If enabled the wearer cannot teleport or fly away by any means. This mode cannot be changed while a leash is already active. To set it, first unleash, and then check/uncheck the box. Leashes are also strict when anchored.

Chain, Silk, Invisible ☐/☒: Cycles the leash particle style. Chain are our old-school particles with metal links, Silk is a modern ribbon style particle in form of a gentle band and Invisible can be used if Strict mode is desire but no visual leash.

Feel: Here the leash size and weight can be changed. A lighter leash will look as if it was held more tightly and shorter.

Color: Calls the global color selection dialog.
